There are certain conditions which can only be managed by surgical interventions in their advanced stages. Surgery is always optional, but sometimes it is inevitable in many cases, may be its a post fracture, or Spondyloisthesis, Joint replacement, laminectomy, Ligament repair etc. Though in most cases Physiotherapy rehabilitation can benefit alone, but if surgery is done, then the person has to go for Post Surgical rehabilitation. Physiotherapy helps in early recovery to get back to perform normal functions everyday. The goals of physiotherapy in this phase are to reduce pain, swelling, reduce the inflammation, to improve the flexibility, to increase the muscle strength. The rehabilitation is very specific for each condition is always customised for a particular patient, to achieve the desired results. The Physiotherapist always design a set of exercise protocol, with stretching, strengthening, Range of motion and functional exercises. Patient's recovery depends entirely on the Post surgical Rehabiliatation. At Pain Free Zone, we provide Advanced Physiotherapy, that is Pysiotherpay with a difference. You can experience an entirely different approach of rehabilitation here.
Fracture simply means breaking of the bone or dicontinuity of the bone. Fracture can be managed by immobilization over the broken area. Immobilization can only ensure that the bone is healed in its place and is well aligned, During the immobilization, there are several complications which can occur, like swelling, muscle wasting, joint stiffness, muscle weakness. Post Fracture rehabilitation have an important role, in overcoming these complications. Rehabilitation aims in reducing the pain, joint stiffness, reversing the muscle wasting, and strengthening of the muscle, reducing the swelling. The post fracture rehabilitation also helps in regaining the functional independence of the involved area. The pain, inflammationa nd swelling acn be manged using either cold compression, hot packs, or combination of both. Using soft tissue manual therapy, the muscles can be made relaxed and the swelling can be reduced. This also helps in regaining the joint movement and stiffness is also reduced. Once the pain and swelling sunsides, the joint has to be mobilized using various approaches and then then comes the role of strengthening of the muscle which can bring back the normal joint function. Patient has to perform the exercises at home as directed by the physiotherapist.
